June Janean Mann was born in El Paso, Texas and was schooled in Architectural Design at Texas A&M University. After graduating, Janean moved to Austin, Texas, and began photographing in laundromats while working at a title company and assisting a professional photographer. In 2005, Janean returned west to Marfa, Texas, where she was an intern at Ballroom Marfa and then a prep cook at Maiya's Restaurant. She enjoyed making bread and also organized a wildly successful art and music showcase, 24 Hours. While in Marfa, Janean made her first website with the help of a Dreamweaver manual. She also sought out and acquired a 1973 Yashica Electro 35. By the Spring of 2006, Janean was living in Portland, Oregon, working as a graphic and Web designer, and photographer, for a transportation engineering firm. While in Portland, Janean acquired her second Yashica, a medium format Yashica-D, two Holgas and a Diana F+. In the Spring of 2008, she returned to her hometown of El Paso, where she worked as a freelance web and graphic designer and photographer. Janean relocated to the NYC area in October 2009 and works as a front-end web developer at Rokkan.
